Insights from our research, things we've noticed in the field, work still underway. In urban planning, the reasons something worked rarely get written down before everyone moves on to the next project. We try to keep as much of our thinking open as we can.
Our analysis extends directly from graduate research on the theme of "clustering processes among small businesses." We've used a combination of cluster analysis and on-the-ground fieldwork to understand how areas start to naturally attract small independent shops and creators.

Drawing on case studies in Japan and abroad, this book examines the benefits and side effects that urban regeneration brings. The evaluation framework we use in our analysis is grounded in this research.
Under a joint research partnership (FY2025) with the Kyushu University Urban Design Laboratory, we apply these research findings to practice.
