Tomokazu Iwabuchi speaking at Sharing City Forum 2026

Tomokazu Iwabuchi, CEO of Urbanix Co., Ltd., spoke at "Sharing City Forum 2026: Share the local — Co-creating the future of the Japanese archipelago through sharing," held in Fukuoka City on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Event Overview

Sharing City Forum is an annual forum hosted by the Sharing Economy Association (a general incorporated association). Built on the idea that sharing regional resources and know-how — and bringing municipalities, companies, and other players together to co-create — can generate new value across Japan, the forum drew a wide range of participants, including municipal leaders, government officials, and business executives.

Session Details

Iwabuchi took the stage at "PITCH CONTENTS: Fukuoka Prefecture's Co-Creative Sharing Ecosystem," which began at 12:30 PM. In this session, players from a range of backgrounds — young entrepreneurs, activists, and intrapreneurs — presented "sharing" initiatives (sharing, mutual aid, and co-creation) emerging across Fukuoka Prefecture.

As CEO of Urbanix Co., Ltd., Iwabuchi introduced the work behind Placebook — a system that visualizes the dormant "white space" of a city on a map and hands it to the people who want to use it.

With this appearance, Urbanix Co., Ltd. has also joined the Sharing Economy Association.

Going forward, we will continue to work with municipalities and companies across Japan that face challenges around vacant properties and urban development, partnering with them to create long-term value for their cities.
